The PHQ-9 is a multipurpose self-administered instrument for screening, monitoring and measuring the severity of depression. The PHQ-9 is the depression module, which scores each of the 9 DSM depression criteria as “0” (not at all) to “3” (nearly every day).

PHQ 9 is obtained before and every week throughout TMS course of treatment to measure the severity of depression.

The PHQ-9 is important measure of depressive symptom severity and response to TMS and can be used as an individual measure of depression severity throughout a course of TMS.
